Cronache dalla città assediata: Aristofane e il teatro di guerra (Acarnesi, Pace, Rane)

In this essay , Aristophanes' comic theatre as a whole is presented and redefined under the formula of war drama, in opposition, one one hand, to the political tragedy, and, in the background, on the other hand, to the contemporary theoretical discussion on the so-called 'committed theatre' in Italy. An attempt has been made to do a new reading of the Acharnians, the Peace, the Frogs, within the social and economic conflict opened by the Peloponnesian War, from the beginnig of Aristophanes's theatrical output (as far as we know) nearly till its end. Euripides' Bacchae are, in this context, and interesting tragic parallel to Aristophanes' war theatre
