The paper aims to analyze the figured cup found in the early years of the '900 in San Basilio of Ariano nel Polesine, in association with a few other finds linked to the Veneto cultural horizon of the first half of the 6° century BC. New methodologies for iconographic and iconological interpretation allow a revision of the decorative apparatus, as well as a clarification of the morphological characteristics of this object, yet considered a unicum. It’s possible to identify a pair of animals, one fantastic and winged and one that is a dog; the pair is iterated on the two sides of the cup to propose different moments of a story. The picture foreshadows the wide range of activities and relationships between local and foreign that could be suggested in a port context, like San Basilio di Ariano nel Polesine.
