Migration is a recent phenomenon in Italy and its negative image dates back to the first large numbers of migrants’ disembarkations in the 1990s. This article focuses on Argentinian and Brazilian migrants’ experiences and attempts to analyse the negativity that is associated to immigration. The idea of integration produces a mimetic representation in the migrants that triggers a process of obliteration of their culture and traditions.

Abstract
