Abstract

Researches in the field of electrochemical and bioelectrochemical sensing have being active since more than half a century, with an impressive growth in the last two decades, derived by perfecting new concepts and knowledge in the fields of controlled modification of surfaces, electron transfer cycles, electrochemical wiring of biomolecules, electrochemical use of nanomaterials. Further progresses towards real-world applicability and commercialization of electrochemical sensors are expected in particular for point-of-care diagnostics and decentralized environmental or food control.
