The article offers a morphological and lexical analysis of two Post-Classical aorist forms of the verb πίπτω, i.e. the aorist passive ἐπτώθην and the sigmatic first aorist ἔπτωσα, which have sometimes led to confusion among both ancient and modern scholars. These Late Antique and Medieval formations are examined in a diachronic perspective with attention to their syntactic functions and semantic values through their occurences in the Byzantine literature. Furthermore, a hypothetical analogical future *πτώσω is discussed since, although it was included in the paradigm of πίπτω in several Ancient Greek lexica and grammars between the 17th and the 19th century, it does not seem to find any evidence in Ancient and Medieval Greek literary sources.
