Plutarque, Oeuvres morales XIII/1, Questions naturelles

This is a new critical edition, with introduction, translation and commentary, of Plutarch's Natural Questions. F. Pontani has contributed three different sections: a wide-ranging and updated introduction on the manuscript tradition, where new manuscript witnesses are identified and collated for the first time, and an entirely new stemma codicum is proposed for the work; the critical edition of the Greek text, embracing several conjectures and new solutions, and above all a brand-new apparatus criticus that takes into account not only new readings detected in manuscripts but also some conjectures penned by earlier scholars since the Renaissance (many of them recovered here for the first time from the margins of early editions); and a new and thoughtful French translation of the text.
