"Andrej Makin između mistifikacije i nužnosti: fenomen pseudo-prevoda"

Starting from the problem of positioning of migrant writings within or outside the national literatures, in this paper I will analyze the choice of the language of literary expression of French writer Andrei Makine and the strategy of pseudo-translation that he had to adopt in order to be published in France. In this analysis, I will take into consideration the commercial and political factors which rule the book market, as well as inherent characteristics of Makine‘s oeuvre which leaded the publishing houses to the decision to accept his first novels only when he had presented them as translations. The last part of the articles will be dedicated to the issues of untranslatability and domestications, with the reference to the translation of Makine in Russian.
