Immigrant Integration Policy Frames in Italy: A Multilevel Governance Perspective

As the previous chapter by Dobbs demonstrated, immigrant political incorporation that is embraced and advanced by local party organizations is arguably a precondition for the creation of optimal public policies for immigrant groups, in part because such policies can be expected to reflect the policy frame of the governing political party. In this chapter Caponio and Campomori demonstrate the importance of differences in regional policy frames as embodied in the positions of the dominant political parties for immigrant incorporation in Italy, another new immigrant destination country.
