Gli esametri Getty e Selinunte: contesto storico e intertestualità cultuale

The paper represents the attempt to evaluate the ‘effectiveness’ of a saving apparatus like that of the epodai transmitted by the Getty lamina in order to analyze consonances and dissonances in the religious experience of a well attested community of Western Sicily, such as Selinous. Clearly this is a composite text derived from a model and intended to be reproduced and modified. The ancient and widespread circulation of such epodai in Western Sicily in the late Archaic and Classical age legitimizes a type of research oriented especially towards the communities that underwent various experiences such as: epidemics, destruction by the Carthaginians, and cohabitation in the 4th century between Greek and non Greek populations. As a consequence I have analyzed the historical, epigraphic, and chronological data offered by the Getty Hexameters and their possible connection with precise cultic, social and economic contexts of Selinous. In addition, I have evaluated the therapeutic aspect of the epodai in relation to medical tradition in Megarian society of Sicily.
