This article concentrates on Edwin Morgan's science-fiction poems, a series of poems taken from his various collections published between 1960s and 1980s. It shows how the Scottish poet's wordplay is basically a play with the voices of the Other, through his desire to contaminate languages and cultures, and making all sorts of different fields of research form a hybridized and counter-hegemonic discourse. His positive inclination towards confrontation of any sort brings new energies to human minds.

Abstract

This article concentrates on Edwin Morgan's science-fiction poems, a series of poems taken from his various collections published between 1960s and 1980s. It shows how the Scottish poet's wordplay is basically a play with the voices of the Other, through his desire to contaminate languages and cultures, and making all sorts of different fields of research form a hybridized and counter-hegemonic discourse. His positive inclination towards confrontation of any sort brings new energies to human minds.
