Cotton is one of the most impartant agricultural commodity and, at the same time, a relevant element of the economic and social history in the industrializing processes. In the article are underlined four points of the cotton geopolitics: the financial aspects related to the cotton future, the question of the subsidizing policies and of the implementation of custom tariffs, the environmental and social sustainability and, last but not least, the role of cotton in the developing countries.

Abstract
Cotton is one of the most impartant agricultural commodity and, at the same time, a relevant element of the economic and social history in the industrializing processes.
