This book is not a grammar of English, neither is it a book on English linguistics. It takes the Italian student of English through a discovery of her/his deep competence of the Italian grammar as a cognitive capacity and shows differences and similarities with the competence a native speaker of English has of this language. Linguistic technacalities are reduced to a minimum which makes it possible for a non-expert student/scholar of foreign language to acquire knowledge of the deep mechanisms of language acquisition
