The design of the anaerobic digestion plant to treat the organic fraction of the wastes of a large food market is described, taking into account experimental data obtained in a previous study. A sensitivity analysis of the assumed operating conditions is carried out to test their influence on plant performance. The results show that the filter press is an important equipment in the plant. An economic study is also performed and shows the high profitability of the plant and the large influence of the landfilling costs on the economic indexes. © 1992.

Abstract

The design of the anaerobic digestion plant to treat the organic fraction of the wastes of a large food market is described, taking into account experimental data obtained in a previous study. A sensitivity analysis of the assumed operating conditions is carried out to test their influence on plant performance. The results show that the filter press is an important equipment in the plant. An economic study is also performed and shows the high profitability of the plant and the large influence of the landfilling costs on the economic indexes. © 1992.
