Abstract

In this paper a fresh interpretation is given – in conjunction with the Homeric corpus -, of the problems related to the many epic poems clustered under the name of Hesiod in antiquity, of their transmission, survival or vanishing in the Hellenistic and Imperial ages, of their autorship and/or authenticity, and of their subject matter, as far as one can conjecture from a close scrutiny of the main fragments.
