Stemming from the Polish Literature after 1989 Forum - published in “Studi Slavistici”, 2007, IV -, this brief contribution aims at pointing out some general critical observations concerning the application of the term "postmodernism", with particular reference to its use in the postsoviet space. Proceeding from the analysis of some similarities there occuring in the “development” of Polish and Russian literatures of the period taken into consideration, the author suggests that the results of specific internal processes cross national boundaries, deserving therefore further investigation in the Slavic area.
